Hi,
If you have or have tried a Tesoro LST I'd be interested in hearing what you think about it.
Did it meet your expectations?
Can it really find small flake gold?
How's the Ground Balancing?
Did you find it good for Coins and Jewelry as well?
How easy is it to learn to use?
Thanks for any information that you can provide!
I think there may be one in my distant future if it lives up to it's claims.
Thanks,

I bought an LST with the standard 5X10 eliptical coil, 8 inch coil and the now discontinued 3X7 inch coil in early November of 2000. It auto ground balanced dead on with any of the three coils and while there's no native gold here it was super hot on tiny bits of foil and similar size low conductive targets. I didn't keep it long because it it lacked depth compared to the other detectors I had, even in all metal mode. I knew the LST's have preset ground balance in disc mode and might be a little shy of depth in that mode, but I actually bought it for hunting relics in all metal mode and was expecting it to go very deep. I was badly disappointed to find out the Fisher CZ's I was using for relics before I bought the LST could get .58 minies three inches or so deeper. Was told it had good target separation in iron so I tried using it in iron laden places, but while it did pretty well with the 3X7 coil it didn't do nearly as well as my old GMT 1650 with the 8 inch coil. It did ok for coin and jewelry hunting, depth with the 8 inch coil was similar to the Golden µMax with 7 inch Shadow X2 coil I have now, but I couldn't live with the lack of depth compared to the other detectors I had so I traded it to John Letson for a CZ7a Pro.
The LST I had may have been sub par, it's the only one I've used, but considering what I paid for it and the two extra coils, plus all the good things I had read about it on the forums, I was badly disappointed with it. _________________ .

Hi JB(MS),
A belated thanks for the review!
By the time I retire, I want to have a good gold detector.
I think the best for around here would be one that can deal with very mineralized and changing soil conditions and be able to detect minute placer gold near the surface or small veins in rock.
It may be a matter of finding which frequency range would work best to find small gold but manage the mineralization here.
It's tough to use All Metal mode when there are so many hot rocks but I know there is probably a machine designed for this.
Thanks for your input, it all helps. _________________ Happy Huntin' Y'all,
